RUN or HIKE
VAN BIBBER PARK
“Van Bibber Park offers an urban get-away as well as a home and migration stop for wildlife. The Van Bibber Creek wetlands provide wildlife habitat, which can be viewed from an observation deck. Visitors enjoy mountain vistas from soft-surface trails that meander through open meadows and a 1.5-mile concrete trail that travels the length of the park and offers accessibility for strollers and wheelchairs.” - JeffCo Open Space
Van Bibber Park Trail - 5.3 mile loop
“This trail traverses through the beautiful open grassy spaces of Van Bibber Park and Stenger Soccer Complex. It's an easy, mostly paved trail with the option for a dirt/gravel section on the west side. The terrain heads gradually uphill to the west and mostly downhill to the east. If you want to increase your mileage, you can continue on to the east via the Arvada Bike Path. The trail begins at the Van Bibber Park East Trailhead parking lot off Ward Road.” - All Trails
BEER
Denver Beer Company
About a ten minute drive from Van Bibber will take you to Olde Town Arvada and Denver Beer Company. They have an airy indoor space, huge patio, with fire pits, and occasional live music.
The taproom and brewery offers IPA, wheats, Kolschs, porters, lagers, ales, seltzers, and even non-alcoholic “hop water!” You can also buy cans to go.
I’ve always been a fan of their Princess Yum Yum and Juicy Freak IPA. They are perfect camping or long-run-refresher beers!
They also offer a flight of five smaller pours so you can sample your way around their extensive offerings. A flight also gives you a chance to decide which brew you love best with your Mighty burger!
The Mighty Burger is housed in the cutest vintage airstream food truck permanently parked in Denver Beer Company’s Arvada taproom.
Every burger comes with a side of salt and pepper fries. Or you can upgrade to truffle fries or tater tots. Their burgers taste classic and fresh using Colorado raised, grass-fed beef and a bun that’s somehow soft as a pillow but crisp next to the meat and sauce so nothing gets soggy.
